STINGRAY SAM DIARY / June 2009

Our Brooklyn premiere started June 6th on the roof of the Brooklyn Technical High School in Fort Greene, Brooklyn as part of the ROOFTOP FILM FESTIVAL. The evening began at sunset with live music by THE WOES. When it was dark STINGRAY SAM was screened to an audience of over 400 people. After the screening I gave a Q&A while leaning on a cane that was given to me at the Bellevue Hospital emergency room after a skateboarding accident. This evening was the first time in many days that I had been able to leave my apartment.

The Brooklyn screenings continued as STINGRAY SAM was presented as part of the BROOKLYN INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL at the Brooklyn Heights Cinema.

The following week was spent in Las
Vegas, Nevada at the CINEVEGAS FILM FESTIVAL. Before the Nevada premiere on June 12th, I was given the Red Carpet treatment at The Palms hotel/casino. Supporting actor Michael Wiener and short film director Emily Carmichael accompanied me.

Michael Wiener has attended several festivals in support of STINGRAY SAM. He can be recognized by his elegant attire (or as Mac Word spelling & grammar check would put it, “His elegant attire can recognize him.”)

Also screening at Cinevegas was Jennifer Kroot’s IT CAME FROM KUCHAR, a documentary about filmmakers George and Mike Kuchar. I am proud to have been interviewed in this documentary as a friend of George Kuchar.

Shortly after our Las Vegas screenings STINGRAY SAM was presented at the SOUTH SIDE FILM FESTIVAL in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. The senior programmer for this festival, Graham Stanford, was LEAD CARPENTER during the production of STRINGRAY SAM. (Graham also has a sneak cameo in episode #4)

For our final screening in Bethlehem, co-stars Crugie and Willa Vy McAbee joined me for the Q&A.

July will be spent in NYC. We will be constructing our new websites, creating a distribution plan, mixing the soundtrack for release, assembling a DVD and posting our new store. I will keep you updated. Festivals begin again in mid-August and continue throughout the year. Screenings are scheduled in Poland, Iceland, Sweden, Milwaukee, Austin, Memphis, Israel, Ramallah, Taiwan, Spain, Russia, Leeds England and Oslo Norway. In the meantime I hope you will take advantage of our FREE ITEMS. Download an iPod & iPhone compatible trailer & song from STINGRAY SAM for free by clicking on the widget below.

You can help us spread the word by posting the above “free download” widget directly onto your Blog, Web Page, Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, Digg and/or Delicious accounts by clicking the “share” button. From there your friends, fans, patrons and associates will be able to download the music and video for free. When we give a free gift we like to give the hell out of it.

More soon,
